Behaviour recording with issue reports
Version: 2026-09-07
This page explains the consent "I allow automatic recording of my movement through the application or website for easier analysis of the reported issue."
Why it exists
When you report an issue, the hardest part for the team is guessing how you got there. A recording of the last two minutes shows the sequence of actions before the report, so the problem is often solved without further back and forth.
What is recorded
- Clicks and taps
- Pointer movement and scrolling
- Opening and closing of menus, dialogs and tabs
- Page changes and window resizing
- Technical browser and screen size information
- Network request addresses without parameters, and console messages with sensitive parts removed
What is not recorded
- Text shown on the page β it is replaced with asterisks
- Anything you type into fields (search, email, password, free text)
- Images, photos and documents displayed on the page
- Parts of the page the site owner marked as hidden
Masking happens in your browser before the recording is sent, and it also covers labels, descriptions, alternative texts and accessibility attributes.
Duration and retention
A recording covers the last two minutes before you submit a report. Anything older is continuously discarded. It is sent only together with an issue report β never in the background and never without your action.
Sent recordings are deleted automatically after the retention period set per project, 30 days by default. After that only the report text remains.
Who can see it
Only team members on that project who are allowed to see the report. Recordings are never published, sold, or used for profiling, marketing or model training.
Your control
- You can turn the consent on or off at any time in your profile in Netgen Client Hub.
- For each individual report you can additionally switch the recording off, regardless of the consent.
- Without consent nothing is sent. Whatever the browser held temporarily in memory is discarded when the page is closed.
- Consent is not a condition for using Client Hub or for reporting issues.
Legal basis
Processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
